Obituary

Ruth Helen (Plambeck) Hanson, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2022. She was born on January 17, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Walter and Gertrude (Luck) Plambeck. Ruth was united in marriage to Harvey Honas Hanson on December 20, 1952, at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, by Rev. Vernon I Graf. Harvey preceded Ruth in death on August 5, 1997.

She lived in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. Harvey was in the US Air Force for nine years, and they moved frequently while he was in the service. Ruth was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Black Creek. She loved and served the Lord through the Women's Guild, Board of Christian Education, Good Shepherd Ministry, and helping with monthly newsletters and the C.A.R.E. group.

Because of her great love of children, she served as a Sunday School teacher for 40 years in Michigan and Wisconsin. Ruth also served as a Cub Scout Leader, and was a volunteer in the first grade at the Black Creek Elementary School. She also worked as an aide at the Black Creek Village Library. Ruth was the first recipient of the Fox Cities Volunteer Educator Award in 1998.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Hanson, Black Creek; one son, Steve Hanson, Black Creek; two sisters-in-law, Georgiana Hanson, Sturgeon Bay; and Mary Ann Hanson, Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
