Mary J (Zillmer) Monroe

Mary Josephine Monroe, 93, Seymour, passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. She was born on July 2, 1929, to the late Edward and Josephine (Dengel) Zillmer. Mary was united in marriage to Mark "Steve" Monroe on June 11, 1951, in Berlin, Germany, and the couple raised two children. Mark preceded her in death on June 22, 2009. Mary was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour.

She is survived by three nieces: Jennifer (Kevin) Kiesl, Scottsdale, AZ; Stephanie Binder, Hayward; and Nancy Barchard, Deerpark, IL; and her good friend and fellow card player, Judy Schuette, Seymour; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by two daughters, Katherine Monroe and Susan Monroe; and one sister, Jane (John) Frisbie.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., Dcn. Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in Most Precious Blood Cemetery in New London.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
