Kathleen “Kathy” Jean Stedjee, 65, Black Creek, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021, at home with her family at her side. She was born March 6, 1955, and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Regina and Vern Voight, in Shiocton, from a very young age. She met Lars Stedjee at Homecoming in Black Creek on June 17, 1972. Kathleen and Lars were united in marriage on June 15, 1973, and the couple lived in Black Creek their entire married life.
Kathleen really enjoyed working at Outagamie Producers Cheese Factory in Black Creek, where she met a lot of great friends. She worked until she fell ill in 1992 and was homebound on oxygen until May of 2010. Kathleen spent five days on a waiting list until she received her call from UW Hospital in Madison for her double lung transplant. She suffered for many years as she was misdiagnosed with having emphysema when she was 38. It wasn’t until five years later when she was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.
Kathy loved her dogs, Coco and Dodge. She also liked dancing and listening to the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Kathy enjoyed jewelry shopping and parasailing in Door County. She was proud of her Wizard of Oz collection and her Tiffany lamps.
Survivors include her husband, Lars; two sons: Vern (Christine) Stedjee, Shiocton; and Patrick (Kristi) Stedjee, Clintonville; three grandchildren: Dylan (special friend, Kayla) Stedjee, Kyle (special friend, Madi) Stedjee, and Logan Stedjee; step-grandchildren: Derek (fiancée Lexi) Miller, Justin (Cody) Fields, and John Fields; sisters-in-law: Shirley Stedjee, Pennie Leninger, and Beverly Dorn (Peter Petzel); and one brother-in-law, James (Amy) Stedjee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gordon (Bernice) Stedjee; one brother-in-law, James Dorn, Sr.; and one niece, Meredith Murphy.
