Virginia Douglass

June 11, 1927 — March 24, 2021

Virginia Lee Douglass, 93, Black Creek, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Nursing Home with family at her side on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was born to the late George and Loretta (Wourms) Dillhoff on June 11, 1927, in Saint Henry, OH. Virginia was united in marriage to Joseph R. Douglass on May 25, 1962, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Dayton, OH. They met while she was in nursing school and was introduced by her adored future sister-in-law, Gloria Jorgenson. Joseph preceded Virginia in death on September 12, 2002. Virginia was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek for 28 years.

Virginia was a graduate of Saint Elizabeth Nursing School in Dayton, OH. She enjoyed various nursing positions, including being a head nurse of an all-black floor during the segregation days. She crossed the picket line during an era of riots to take care of her patients. Most recent nursing positions included being a head nurse at Bellin Hospital and she ended her career as an Occupational Health Nurse at Northwest Engineering, Green Bay.

She loved to spend time with her family; she will be most known for her generous heart and being very involved in all of her grandchildrens' lives. She split her time for many years between her Florida and Wisconsin grandchildren. Virginia was an avid Packers fan and learned to know the sport quite well. She will be truly missed and she made this world a far better place.

She is survived by two daughters: Cheryl (Joseph) Corbeille, Black Creek, and Sharon Douglass, Green Bay; nine grandchildren: Johnathan McArthur, Green Bay, Alexa McArthur, Kimberly, Jessie (Dave) Finger, Green Bay, Jerame Schueler, Seymour, Joey Schueler, Green Bay, Jeni Schueler, FL, and Jazz (Travis) Cornell, Seymour; Ashley Corbeille, MN and Allen Corbeille, Green Bay; ten great-grandchildren: Caden, Addyson, and Nathen Gruse, Emilla Ryder, Trevor and Alaina Finger, Aliyah and Lyla Schueler and Lacey and Levi Cornell; one sister, Ann Boger, GA; three brothers: Edward (Janet) Dillhoff, TX, Joseph Dillhoff, OH, and George (Michelle) Dillhoff, OH; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Lee and Nathan McArthur; one sister, Lois Dillhoff; two sisters-in-law, Gloria (Jim) Jorgenson, and Barb Dillhoff; one brother-in-law, Bill Boger; and two nephews: Dean and Kyle Dillhoff.

Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021, Father David Greskowiak officiating. Burial will take place at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the study of Alzheimer's disease.

Special appreciation is given to the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care.
