Thomas Paulson

December 10, 1946 — August 24, 2025

Our beloved father, Dr. Thomas Anthony Paulson, was reunited with his cherished wife, Joy, on August 23, 2025 at the age of 78.

Born on December 10, 1946, in Amery, Wisconsin, to Alfred (Tony) and Jean Paulson. Thomas lived a life defined by devotion-to his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his faith. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father, a proud grandfather, and a highly respected dentist in the Manitowoc area.

Thomas attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he met Joy Patricia Blahnik, the love of his life. They became married in June of 1970 at Holy Innocence Catholic Church in Manitowoc, WI. Tom went on to attend Loyola Dental School in Chicago, IL. He began his dental career in Grantsburg, WI in 1976, before moving to Manitowoc in 1977 to take over his father-in-law, Dr. Gilbert Blahnik's dental practice. He served his community until his retirement in 2015. A leader in his profession, Thomas served as president of the Manitowoc Dental Association for many years, earning the admiration of peers and patients alike.

Outside of his unwavering work ethic as a dentist, Thomas was well known for his deep love of the family cabin on the Yellow River where he cherished time spent with family-hunting, fishing, and trapping-as well as cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his three sons: Brian (Shannon) Paulson of Black Creek, WI; Matthew Paulson of New York City, NY; and Nicholas Paulson of Manitowoc, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Devon Paulson of Madison, WI; and Madeline, William, and John Thomas Paulson of Black Creek, WI.

Thomas leaves behind his siblings: Pam (Steve) Buxton, Claire (Keith) Palmer, Jeff (Molly) Paulson, and Fred (Cindy) Paulson- as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Patricia Paulson, his parents, his granddaughter, Isabel May Paulson, brother-in-law Steven Buxton, and his nephew Benjamin Pittner.

A funeral Mass for Thomas and Joy will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Catholic Church on Waldo Blvd Manitowoc, WI. Visitation is at 11:00 am with Mass at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in their memory to St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc, WI.
