Susan Coonen

Susan Marie Coonen, 63, Seymour, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. The daughter of Timothy and Janice (Tuma) Sampo was born February 14, 1957. Susan was a 1975 graduate of Seymour High School. Shortly after graduating high school, she began her career in managing women’s retail clothing, which she enjoyed for over 40 years, as well as buying clothes.

On December 24, 1997, she married Francis Coonen in Las Vegas, NV. Susan was very generous, and she was especially proud of supporting wounded warriors. She also took care of her mother for the last 6 months. Susan also liked gardening and feeding the birds.

Survivors include her husband, Francis Coonen, Seymour; her step-children: Heather (Tim) Peterson, Milwaukee; and Jessie (Scott) Grasse, Hortonville; 10 step-grandchildren; her mother, Janice Sampo, Hobart; one sister, Holly (Barry) Muller, De Pere; one sister-in-law, Betty Lou (John) Konarski, Monument, CO; two brothers-in-law: Jim (Karen “Cookie”) Coonen, Appleton; and Terry (Joan) Coonen, Sobieski; one niece, Brittany Muller, De Pere; one nephew, Maxwell Muller, De Pere; and her canine companion, Brody.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Timothy Sampo; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis Sr. and Evelyn (Hill) Coonen; an infant sister, Kristen “Krissy” Sampo; one brother-in-law, Richie Coonen; and her canine companion, Buster.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to ASPCA would be appreciated. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with their arrangements.

The family extends a special thanks to her step-daughter, Jessie Grasse, for all of her care.
