Shawn Thorson

Shawn Thorson, 50, of Shawano, passed away peacefully after a long battle with his heart.

Shawn was born on September 20, 1975, to Lyle A. Thorson and AnnaMarie Siroin. He proudly made sure everyone knew he was the rebel of the family, but those who knew him best also knew his gentle and caring side.

Shawn loved spending time outdoors and making memories with family and friends. He enjoyed watching the stars and the Northern Lights with his cousins, as well as tubing, rafting, and swimming-even though he couldn't swim (hahaha). He was passionate about hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, Tinkering in the garage and watching racing. A devoted Dale Earnhardt fan, Shawn could often be found cheering on his favorite driver. Known as a freelancer and jack-of-all-trades, he was always willing to lend a hand and tackle almost any project.

Shawn is survived by his siblings: Christine (Randy) Opperman of Lakewood, Donald Dorgan of Wausau, Brenda Thielman of Green Bay, Glen Dorgan of Oconomowoc and Micheal Thielman of Antigo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Amanda (Thomas) Boettcher of Daggett, Michigan; Jessie Peebles; Jason (Jodi Black) Peebles; Jamie (Scott) Liesner; Jeana (Dalton) Henn; Joseph Thielman of Antigo; and Jenna Dorgan of Green Bay. He is further survived by his great-niece, Olivia Boettcher, and great-nephew, Tidus Boettcher, both of Daggett, Michigan.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, his nephew Quinten Boettcher, and many beloved aunts and uncles.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dean and LaTonya Hillsberg and Jason Carpenter for their unwavering support, friendship, and love throughout Shawn's life. You were his closest family, and he loved you very much.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Shawn's life at the Shawano Boat Landing, a place where he enjoyed spending much of his time. A cookout will be held around 11am. (Exact date to be determined) Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to pass as stories and memories are shared. Following the cookout, a portion of Shawn's ashes will be spread in the river he loved so much. The family will then proceed to Ascension Lutheran Church in Navarino, where Shawn will be laid to rest beside his dad.

Shawn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Until we meet again, baby brother.
