Sharlet "Sharie" Maas, age 90, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Sharie was born on April 19, 1936 in Milwaukee, daughter of Harvey R. and Virginia (Akers) Maass. On June 8, 1957, she married Albert "Al" Maas in Seymour and dropped the last "s" from her name.
She worked for Seymour Community School District, starting as a teacher's aide and eventually became the secretary to the Junior High Principal. Sharie was an active Lions Club Lioness. She enjoyed playing cards and games, bowling, golfing and volunteering at church.
Before Al and Sharie retired, they moved to Shawano Lake and enjoyed "living on the water". Many friends did not understand why anyone would commute 40 minutes one way to work every day, until they visited Al and Sharie's slice of heaven. Cardinals were her favorite birds at the feeder.
She is survived by her children: Brian (Deb) Maas, Virginia (Marlin) Prowell, and Scott (Sheri) Maas; grandchildren Derek (special friend Holly), Kyle, Brandon (Jessica), Justin (Anna), Nyssa (Michael) Prowell-Gordon, and great grandchildren Nolan and Parker. Further survived by her brother-in-law Ralph Maas and best friend Pat Bauer, who she spoke with every day.
Sharie is preceded in death by her husband Al, sisters Jacquelin Roberts and Kym Maass and sister-in-law Helen Maas.
Funeral services for Sharie will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, on Monday, June 15th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Sharie will be laid to rest at the parish cemetery following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Good Shepherd Services Ltd or Emmanuel Lutheran Church's Community Inclusive Park in Sharie's name are appreciated.
A very special thanks to Dr. Schinschke from Prevea and the caring staff of Good Shepherd Services for giving mom the best life possible for her last 3 and a half years fighting dementia.
Matthew 11:28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
