Rosemary A. Hackel, 95, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, September 28, 2017, at Touchmark, Appleton. She was born in her family home August 18, 1922, daughter of the late Henry and Johanna (Van Der Loop) Van Den Eng.
Rosemary married the late Raymond Hackel on June 10, 1941. Their marriage began in Texas while Ray was in the service. Rosemary worked at the Outpost as a waitress, later in the ammunitions department in Washington, until moving back to Wisconsin to purchase the Hackel farm in Isaar. There they raised six children.
Rosemary enjoyed farming and many years of driving school bus for Huettl's Transfer. She was the bus driver that took you back home if you forgot something. She was an active member of St. Sebastian's Catholic Church in Isaar.
Rosemary loved to live life. She will be remembered for her prize-winning Halloween costumes she made for her children, her love of a good party and a great game of sheepshead. Her motto was: Eat dessert first, Life is uncertain.
Rosemary loved her children and extended family and dedicated her life to them. Rosemary is survived by her children: Ronald (Sally) Hackel, Green Bay; Judith (Dennis) O'Boyle, Milwaukee; Susan (Jafar) Manselle, Boston; Debra (Gary) Gostas, Neenah, Don Jorgenson, McFarland; Patti Hackel, Appleton; her eight grandchildren: Dawn (Mark) Tunkel, Denny (Jenny) Hackel, Ashley (Rob) Hackel, Kaya and Trevor Manselle, Johanna Jorgenson, Jackson and Davis Gostas; four great-grandchildren: Amanda and Mason Tunkel, Ted and David Hackel.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Hackel; her eight siblings; and all of her brother and sister in-laws.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar on Monday, October 2, 2017, from 4:00 pm until the funeral mass at 6:00 pm with Fr. Brian Belongia officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at
