Robert Orville Eick, age 90, of Seymour, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Bob was born on the family farm on September 4, 1935 to Orville and Nora (Gregorius) Eick. Bob attended North Osborn School, or "North Osborn Tech" as Bob lovingly called it, and Seymour High School.
Bob was joined in marriage to Janis Almos on June 20, 1959 at Emmanual Lutheran Church. Bob was employed at Gustman Motors, Brick Implement, and Sherman Implement prior to owning an auto parts store for 10 years. Bob was well known for his small engine repair that he performed part-time for years. Bob retired in 2000 but worked at Crystal Springs golf course repairing the golf carts and machinery over 20 years.
Bob loved to play the drums, he started playing with his father for square dances at age 13, then for Ray Reis orchestra, and later years for the Geriatric Jazz Group. His last performance was playing in a jam session for his 90th birthday. Bob was also a member of the Seymour Fire Department for 18 years. He was also in the Seymour Lions Club. Bob was an Emmanuel Lutheran parishioner, usher, and member of the College Student Aid committee for many years.
Bob is survived by his loving spouse of 66 years, Jan; his children Tim (Heather) and Staci (Brian) Caldwell; grandpa of Jennifer, Marnie, Chloe, and Sidney. Further survived by his in-laws Jerry (Judie) Almos and Sue Patz. Further survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kristin, his sister Fern (the late Gerald) Thomas, and in-laws Harriet (the late Gerald) Eick, and Gerald Patz.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, on Tuesday April 14th at 5:00 PM with Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Memorial visitation will be held at church from 2:00 PM until the time of services. Bob will be laid to rest privately at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Emmanuel Lutheran Student Aid program in Bob's name are appreciated.
