Richard Houston

December 22, 1931 — October 13, 2018

.

Richard Lendy Houston, 86, of Seymour passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born in Ashland, Mississippi on December 22, 1931, son of the late Brooks and Gladys Houston, one of ten children in the family.

Richard served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954, having been stationed in Germany.

He married Deanna Debban on April 25, 1958, having recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Richard enjoyed fishing in general, but he especially enjoyed fly-in fishing trips in Canada and his annual fishing vacations at Camp American Legion with his son Lamont. Spending time at his cottage in Mountain, WI was one of his favorite things to do. Deer hunting, ice fishing, golfing, and making maple syrup were some of his favorite up north activities.

Richard was definitely a Green Bay Packer fan. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed western movies and books. More than anything else, he cherished all the time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; children: Pamela (Henry) Biese, Lamont (significant other Karen Smith) Houston, Sandra (James) Beyer, and Robert (Marie) Houston; grandchildren: Shawn Beyer, Zach Houston, Craig Beyer, Amanda Beyer, David Beyer, Allison Nowaczyk, Tayler Houston, Matthew Houston, Nicholas Biese, Hannah Houston, and Elijah Houston; great-grandchildren: Lola Beyer, Layla Beyer, Brodie Houston, and Jace Houston. Further survived by two siblings: Jestel Wilson of Ashland Mississippi and Jewel Vansant of Hickory Flat Mississippi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers E.B., Ed, Junior, Claude and Clifton Houston and sisters Hazel Feathers and Eliza Stone.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2:00 pm until the funeral service at 3:00 pm. Burial will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour.
