Raymond Schuelke

January 25, 1930 — March 21, 2008

Raymond B. Schuelke, 78, Navarino, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Good Friday, March 21, 2008 at home with his family nearby after a courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born on January 25, 1930 in the house he had lived in for the past 35 years, to Benjamin and Gladys (Pues) Schuelke. On February 27, 1965, he married Susan Donaldson in Navarino, whom he met while he owned and operated Ray's Roller Rinks, Inc. He lived with cancer for 23 years but esophageal cancer discovered in November 2006 overcame him. He had no fear of the disease, lived each day to the fullest, and faced each day with courage and without complaining. His faith in His Lord was strong and unwavering and he believed that the power that made the body could heal the body; but he also knew that when God called him home, it would be alright. He was Sue's rock and a role model to his family. He enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling, fishing, socializing and sharing jokes and stories with family and friends.
He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1948 where he was presented with the American Legion Award. After graduation, he worked on Alvin Reisner's farm near Cecil, Village Farm Dairy in Bonduel, as parts manager at Shamoco Ford in Shawano, meter reader and storekeeper for WE Energies, and furniture delivery for Red's Upholstery in Bonduel. He fully retired in May 2007. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Navarino, where he taught Sunday School, held offices on church council, played dart ball, sang in the choir, was an assistant minister and served on the property committee. He was also treasurer of the Ascension Cemetery Association and the clerk for the Town of Navarino from 1965-1979.
Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue; three daughters, Toni (Darrel) Klemp, Navarino; Shelly (Dave) Klemp, Shiocton; Denise (Doug) Klemp, Black Creek (all three daughters married brothers); a son, Brad (Jody) Schuelke, Shiocton; one sister, Bernice Svetnicka, Navarino; one brother, Dr. Jerome (Beverly) Schuelke, Shawano; a niece/sister-in-law, Donna (Jon) Stucki, Black Creek; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Ben, Megan, Sean, Carolyn, Julia and Joshua Klemp; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be reunited in heaven with his parents; a brother, Elroy; a brother-in-law, T. Laurence Svetnicka; and a granddaughter, Elisa Klemp.
A celebration of Ray's life will held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Navarino, WI. Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home in Seymour on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. and at Ascension Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 2 p.m. until the time of the service with Pastor Lisa Stafford officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Lessor. Online condolences may be made at www.muehlboettcher.com
The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to the team of wonderful, caring people at Heartland Home Health Nursing and Hospice of DePere for the awesome care Ray received the past 7 weeks.
