Norbert Theobald

Norbert John Theobald, 92, Black Creek, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was born on May 8, 1930, to the late Albert and Margareth (Klapperick) Theobald. Norbert grew up on the family farm and was a 1948 graduate of Shiocton High School. He was united in marriage to Ruth Stingle on May 10, 1958.

Norb was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek, where he served in various capacities. He was a trustee and usher, and also enjoyed setting up the Nativity set and other Christmas decorations every year. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Bona Council #2990, and had served as Grand Knight. Norbert was a 65-year member of the Black Creek Fire Department, where he served as secretary and treasurer of the Rural Fire Committee. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Norb was a member of the Freedom VFW Post #7692 and the Black Creek American Legion Post #332.

He was one of the founders of Boy Scouts Troop 100 in Black Creek, where he enjoyed facilitating the Klondike Derby Sled. Norb was also a 4-H leader, and belonged to the Outagamie County 4-H Leaders Association for 50 years. He was an avid woodworker; Norb was a past woodworking superintendent of the Outagamie County Fair in Seymour, and he built many of the booths at the fairgrounds. He enjoyed his numerous bus trips with "farmers on the bum" for over 25 years, and he enjoyed taking car rides.

Norb is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Theobald; three children: Susan (Daniel) Meyer, Gerald Theobald, and John (Barbara) Theobald; eight grandchildren: Nicole (Michael) Beyer-Simon, Natalie (Jason) Jacobson, Virginia (Jed) Meidam, Matthew Beyer (special friend, Dallas Kennedy), Noah Theobald, Abbie Theobald, Joshua (Julie) Meyer, and Jennifer (Ryan) Blaser, eight great-grandchildren: Kaylee Simon, Ramona Meidam, Beckham Jacobson, Rula Beyer, Lincoln, Evangeline, and Theodore Blaser, and Beckham Kennedy; four brothers: Pete (Pat) Theobald, Wilfred Theobald, Sylvester (Rita) Theobald, and Ray (Anita) Theobald; one sister, Barbara (Jim) Crawford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Carol Theobald, Carol "Kelly" Theobald, Janet (Arlin) Springstroh, Mary Ann (Ronald) Nettekoven, Adele "Dolly" (Donald) Mleziva, Terry (Amy) Stingle, Merlin (Charlotte) Stingle, Kathleen (Eugene) Micke, Darrel (Dawn) Stingle, and David Stingle (fiancee, Cheryl Pagel); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Erwin and Helen (Baumann) Stingle; two brothers, Donald Theobald and Eugene "Geno" Theobald; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Theobald; and one brother-in-law, Vernon (Nancy) Stingle.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Parish Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues on Friday, May 20, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., Fr. David Greskowiak officiating. Burial with military honors by the Black Creek American Legion Post #332 will follow at the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family extends a special thanks to Black Creek Rescue Service and the Black Creek Police Department for their efforts.
