Nathan Thomas West, resident of Black Creek, WI, was born on July 28, 1975 and passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2026 with family by his side. If you knew him, you no doubt remember his love and energy. He made friends easily and everyone was his buddy - greeted with a high five or a hug. And he gave the greatest hugs.
Nathan enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Some memorable experiences include the pinewood derby, foil dinners, bubble relays, and the black eyed pea scavenger hunt in Cub Scouts. Special Olympics bowling had everyone baffled on how he got that perfect spin on the ball. Canoe trips with family that had everyone cackling like a chicken just to hear the echo in the tunnel. Silly things that we sometimes don't remember the beginning of, but became family traditions and spawned lots of love and laughter.
Nathan loved to dance. If you attended Seymour High School when he was there, you would remember him dancing next to the pep band and the cheerleaders as he cheered his team on. If you attended any family gathering, you would remember his hugs and how no one would be able to drag him off the dance floor. He also cut a rug at the 3rd Street Diner Christmas parties where he worked for many years.
His greatest passions were country music and the Packers. Many days growing up were spent poring over the newest magazines or newspapers to find information on his favorite players while Garth Brooks, John Denver, or Ronnie Milsap played loudly on repeat in the background (at least until July 29th when Christmas season began in the house).
Nathan is survived by his parents, Barbara and William; his siblings Andrew (Megan) West and Amber (Daniel) Kemppainen; their children Annaliese and Michaela Kemppainen; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Anna West; aunts, Kathy Michaelson and MaryJo Wallis; uncles, Gerald Bastian, Dale Thompson, Tom Wallis, and Thomas West; grandparents, George and Genevieve West and Agnes and Vincent Adomaitis.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at ThedaCare Memorial Hospital and Hospice for their care.
Funeral services for Nathan will be held at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour at 11:00 am on Friday, June 5, 2026 with Deacon Jeff Hofacker officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
