Nancy Carpenter

May 21, 1936 — December 20, 2021

Nancy Ruth Carpenter, 85, Navarino, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 20, 2021. She was born on May 21, 1936, to the late Claude and Marjorie (Schroeder) Nelson.
She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Earl Carpenter, on October 15, 1955. The couple was inseparable, and they made their home in Navarino. They were very active in their church and community. Nancy and Earl both loved classic country music, and they attended many concerts together and enjoyed traveling to Nashville and various regions of the country. Earl preceded her in death on November 4, 1982.

Nancy was hired at Morning Glory while in high school since she received the highest score on a test. She worked at the Navarino Feed Mill from the 1960s until they closed. Nancy enjoyed seeing the local farmers and children while working at the mill. She later worked for Nichols Co-op, Scenic Valley Co-op, and Badger Energy. Nancy was a longtime member and treasurer of Trinity United Church of Christ, and she also belonged to the New Hope Circle. She had a generous spirit, which led to her passion for volunteering at the clothes closet and food pantry at Trinity UCC.

She enjoyed gardening and reading the entire newspaper. Nancy also liked playing board games and casino games, and trying her luck with scratch off tickets. She spent a lot of time traveling on bus tours around the country with friends, and watching her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Nancy also enjoyed watching the Brewers. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and "grand dogs." She was a phenomenal cook and baker, and nobody left Nancy's house hungry. Nancy also donated a bike every year to Navarino Days in memory of Earl, and she was known for sending cards to everybody.

She is survived by four children: Julie (Rick) Rosenberg, Clintonville; Jill (Ron) Baxter, Madison; Greg (Debby) Carpenter, Freedom; and Jacki (Joe) Englebert, Hortonville; eleven grandchildren: Kyle (Casey) Rosenberg, Kari Rosenberg, Abigayle Baxter, Ben Baxter, Alex Carpenter, Jolaina (Danny) Rodriguez, and Jocelyn, Joelle, Josie, Jonathon, and Jaelyn Englebert; one brother, Robert (Lynn) Nelson, Greenville; one sister, Lois Nischke, Bonduel; her longtime dear friend, Kathy Schmidt, Stephensville; one brother-in-law, Gary (Ellen) Carpenter, Kaukauna; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Earl, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Andrea Carpenter; one sister, Kathy Nelson; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation with light refreshments will take place on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Trinity United Church of Christ, W6712 County Rd F (Leeman) from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Moira Finley officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Town of Lessor.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family extends a special thanks to the Clintonville Ambulance Service for their efforts. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Nancy's good friend, Peggy Hillsberg, for keeping a watchful eye on mom.
