Michael Vande Vyver

Michael "Mike" A. Vande Vyver, 75, of Black Creek passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 14, 1948 a son of the late Amede and Helen (Kettenhoven) Vande Vyver.

Mike graduated from Kimberly High School in 1967. He then enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam for three years where he was a radio mechanic, which launched his electrical career.

Following his time in the US Army, he married the love of his life, Joyce Jahnke at Holy Name Catholic Church on December 27, 1971 having celebrated over 51 years of marriage.

Mike attended Bell and Howell School (DeVry) in Chicago. The couple later moved to Minnesota where Mike further advanced in his electrical career. He earned his journeyman electrical license after moving to Wisconsin. Mike was a proud member of the IBEW Local 577 electrical union where he was known as "Rambo".

He was an avid ski jumper while residing in Minnesota. There wasn't much that he wouldn't try including power parachuting, kayaking, an Amazon Rain Forest expedition, and scuba diving (including under the ice). Mike also enjoyed traveling the world, having visited five continents and venturing into the Arctic Circle.

Mike is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, David (fiance, Jamie Baumann); brother, Tom;
god-daughter, Christina (Joe) Schlintz; god-son, Cody Vande Vyver; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: William (Mary) Jahnke, Ronald Giese and Carol Coenen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pat; brothers-in-law, Donald Coenen and Gene Jahnke; and sister-in-law, Linda Giese; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fritz and Mary Jahnke.

Visitation will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Fr. Rev. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with military honors.
