Mary Resop

July 4, 1932 — September 3, 2017

Mary Christina (Felton) Resop loved warm sunny days, and with her daughters and loving partner at her side she left her earthly home on just that sort of day. On September 3, 2017, she began her next journey to join family members that are waiting for her with open arms. Mary was born on July 4, 1932 to the late Ervin and Florence (Machenske) Felton in Nichols, WI. Weighing only 3 pounds at birth her parents were told that she wasn't expected to live very long. She certainly proved that doctor wrong!
On August 30, 1952 Mary was united in marriage to Herbert J. Resop at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1985. For the past 20+ years she has enjoyed the companionship of her devoted and loving partner Louis Bruette. Mary graduated from Seymour High School in 1950 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek.
Mary worked hard all of her life at a variety of jobs too numerous to recount. She enjoyed gardening and was known for having beautiful flowerbeds that attracted butterflies and hummingbirds. Hummingbirds seemed to be attracted to her too, prompting her son-in-law to comment that she could probably live in a concrete parking lot and still have hummingbirds at her feeders! Mary also enjoyed reading, collecting recipes, decorating at least a little bit for every holiday, taking leisurely rides (and stopping for an ice cream cone), camping in the RV that she and Louie shared, and traveling with her family, friends, and Louie. Mary was an excellent cook and made some of the best meals that we can only hope to replicate.
She is survived by her two daughters: Chris Lemmers (special friend Gordie Braun) Black Creek; and Sue Resop (husband Rich Nerbun) Wrightstown. Mary is further survived by her best friend, partner and fiercest advocate Louie Bruette, Green Bay; sister-in-law, Ramona Resop, Berlin; nieces and nephews: David Resop, Princeton; Kathy (Frank) Wermes, Fon du Lac; Mark (Monica) Resop, Eureka; Matt Resop, Appleton; Roxanne (Jeff) LaBomasca, Mayville; Annette (Mike) Ratter, Green Lake; Peter Resop, Berlin; Connie (David) Vande Hei, Suring; Lyndon (Patricia) Klitzke, Randy (special friend Leslie) Klitzke, and Amy (Richard) LuMaye, all of Black Creek; as well as numerous cousins.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Herb; her parents, Ervin and Florence Felton, sisters Carol Klitzke and Judy Felton, in-laws: Clifford Resop, Lawrence Resop, and Lloyd Klitzke; sister-in-law, Evelyn Resop; infant nephew Jeffrey Klitzke; and most recently her nephew's wife, Ruth Resop.
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting some flowers next spring to please the butterflies and hummingbirds in Mary's honor.
