Mary E. De Ruyter, 65, of Seymour passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 21, 2013 at her home. She was born May 28, 1947 daughter of late Earl and Viola (Tappa) Luedke.
On May 14, 1966, she was united in marriage to Kenneth De Ruyter at St. Sebastian Church, Issar. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2000.
Mary was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar. She worked for many years at Paper Converting and was currently working at Green Bay West High School.
Mary loved to entertain family and friends. Her house was always open to anyone that stopped by. She enjoyed time spent out in her garden and working in the yard. Mary enjoyed throwing horseshoes, was also a competitive bean bag toss player, and enjoyed gambling.
Mary loved her grandchildren to the fullest. She enjoyed attending their events and taking them shopping. Mary was an all-around caring and generous person willing to help anyone in any way she could.
She is survived by her children: Wendy (Glen) Schmit, Seymour; Sue (Chris) Clark, De Pere; Allan (Tania) De Ruyter, Oneida; grandchildren: Nicholas, Carley, and Hannah Schmit, Morgan, Madyson, and Jack Clark, Michael, Marissa, and Mason Kocken; sisters: Marlene (Norbert) Matuszak and Doris (Robert) Willis, Seymour; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bonnie Laskowski, Doris (Gary) Kropp, Beverly (Milton) Krause, Richard (Sherry) De Ruyter all of Seymour, Daniel (Shannon) and Ronald (Janelle) De Ruyter, Green Bay. Also survived by four aunts, many nieces, nephews, friends and her dog Harley.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, sister Patty.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Fr. Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary's memory to continue her generosity to others.
