Marlene L. Brown, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband and children in the comfort of her home in Seymour, Wisconsin.
Born on August 29, 1944, Marlene was the daughter of Emmett and Clara (Hermsen) Newhouse. On October 19, 1968, she married the love of her life, Victor Brown, at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family, hard work, and countless cherished memories.
Marlene's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and a treasured sister. Her family was the heart of everything she did, and she found happiness in the everyday moments spent together.
She is survived by her loving husband, Victor Brown, and their three children: Greg (Jennifer) Brown of Seymour, Steve (Gwen Saal) Brown of Rhinelander, and Justin (Heidi) Brown of Stockbridge. She was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Kendra (Chris Dahlke) Brown, Kaylee Brown, Kyle Brown, Bennett Brown, Adley Brown, and Emersyn Brown, each of whom brought her tremendous joy.
She is also survived by her siblings, Vernon (Maxine) Newhouse, Marian (Wil Ayers) Newhouse, and Carol (Rex) Kessler.
Marlene's life was rooted in her love for her family and their farm. She had a special gift for finding beauty in the simple things, especially in her garden, where she lovingly tended her flowers. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and sharing her creations with the people she loved. For Marlene, food was more than a meal; it was a way to bring people together, show love, and make everyone feel at home.
She shared her love of cooking with the Seymour/Black Creek School District, where she worked for 17 years. She truly loved her time there and took pride in making a difference in the lives of those around her.
Marlene will be remembered for her caring heart, her love of family, her beautiful flowers, and the warmth she brought into the lives of so many. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the traditions she passed down, the meals shared around the table, and the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will never fade. Like the flowers she so lovingly grew, the beauty of Marlene's life will continue to bloom in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
"Find the beauty in life every single day."
These were words Marlene lived by, and a beautiful reminder to carry her spirit forward by appreciating life's simple joys, loving one another deeply, and finding a little beauty in every day.
The funeral mass for Marlene will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Fr. Sengole Dass and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 until 10:30 AM, with a family eulogy service at 10:30 AM.
