Margaret Jean Ashmann of Seymour, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of August 17, 2025 at the age of 92. She was surrounded in her final days by her loving family, friends, and neighbors.
She was born on November 6, 1932 to Alvin and Vernice (Bunkelman) Abel. She was a member and regular attendee at Emmanuel Lutheran in Seymour where she met her late husband Paul Ashmann Jr. who she joined in marriage on May 12, 1951.
She operated a family dairy farm in the town of Oneida alongside her husband until his passing. After Paul's death, she began working as a housekeeper at Good Shepard Nursing Home in Seymour where she left a great impact on the residents and her coworkers many of whom became lifelong friends. After her retirement from Good Shepherd, she remained close with these friends and joined them for a monthly breakfast.
In her retirement years, she enjoyed being outside reading, putting together puzzles, gardening, visiting with neighbors and friends, playing board games with her family, and cooking for loved ones. Her determination kept her strong and independent throughout her life all the way to the end.
Margaret is survived by her four children: Georgia (Rick), Ken, Scott (Lori), and Cory (Virane); eight grandchildren: Eric (Amy), Chad (Cheryl), Devon (Deanna), Becky (Robert), Derek (Ashley), Andrew, Zheila, and a soon to be born final grandchild; nine great-grandchildren: Bradyn, Abby (Ben), Paige, Maxwell, Aaliyah, Trinity, Jackson, Tenley, and Denver; one great-great-grandchild, Heath; brother, Donald Abel; and special close friends: Joanne and Duane Wussow. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Abel and one sister, Joan Porter; sisters-in-law: Lois Ann Abel, Erna Ashmann, Joyce Ashmann, and Vera Ashman; and brothers-in-law: Roy Porter, Walter Ashmann, Elmer Ashman, and Albert Ashmann.
Family and friends may visit at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main Street, Seymour, WI 54165 on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, August 22nd, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 349 N. Main Street, Seymour, WI 54165 from 9:30 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their kindness and excellent care for Margaret not only for the past few days but in addition to her previous visits.
