Marcella Vande Hei

Marcella D. Vande Hei, 91, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born October 10, 1925, daughter of the late August and Minnie (Ver Haagh) VerCauteren.
On May 13, 1944, she was united in marriage to Clarence Vande Hei. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2000.
Marcella was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Seymour and the Seymour American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, oil painting, and reading.
Marcella is survived by her children: Anna Mae (Ronald) Farvour, Ed (Maureen) Vande Hei, Carl (Katie) Vande Hei, Elmer (Wendy) Vande Hei, Theresa (Mike) Carriveau, Gloria Buckarma, Raphael (Beth) Vande Hei, Donna Anderson, JoAnne Vande Hei, Jane (William) Treml; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Further survived by a daughter-in-law, Margaret; two sisters: Carol (Donald) VandenElzen and Rosemary Vande Hei; sisters-in-law: Grace Vande Hei and Alice Vande Hei. She is also survived by several god children and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Leo and Garold Vande Hei; siblings: Eleanor (Alvin) Goffard, Lucille (Emmet) Mullen, and Ray (Doris) VerCauteren; brothers-in-law: Harold, Kenneth, Arthur, John, Raymond, Donald, and Alvin Vande Hei.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with an American Legion Auxiliary service at 4:00 pm and a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11 am with Father Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery, Issar.
