Lucille A. (Deviley) Schmidt, 94, died October 19, 2018 at Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring. Lucile was born in Mills Center, WI, the daughter of Lawrence and Violet (Aebischer) Deviley.
She graduated from Mills Center School after completing eight years of education. She worked for a time caring for the daughter of a Green Bay family.
On October 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to David Schmidt at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay, and moved to David's family farm where they lived with David's parents until their deaths. In 1960, David and Lucille moved to a larger farm north of Seymour until retiring to a new house in the city of Seymour in 1979. David passed away in 1985. Lucille continued to live in the house until moving to an apartment in Seymour in 2004.
Lucille was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. She was also a member of the Outagamie Co. Homemakers Club for many years. She kept busy making craft items and was skilled at embroidery and crocheting. For a number of years, she baked and decorated cakes for all occasions, and was well known for her Lovelight Chiffon wedding cakes. She tended a large garden on the farm, freezing and canning much of the family's food. After moving to town she still kept a small garden and cared for many plants, both indoor and out. She loved animals, having many cats and dogs over the years. She also took great pride and enjoyment in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (David) Dryer of Park Falls; son, Michael (Judy) Schmidt of Suring; one brother, Ronald (Rosemary) Deviley of Bark River, MI; six grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Titel, Erin (Jeremy) Blajeski, Nicholas (Lyssa) Schmidt, Daniel (Jodie) Schmidt, Christopher Dryer, and Marcus Dryer; five great grandchildren, Alexis, Edward, Mason, Chase, Siena, Emma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David; infant son, Donald; 2 brothers, Milton (Elsie) Deviley and Rodger (Kay) Deviley.
Private family services will be held.
