Louisa M. DeGroot, age 89, passed away Sunday morning, April 20, 2008. She was born December 31, 1918 to the late Frank and Margaret (List) Demuth.

Louisa was united in marriage to Bernard DeGroot on June 25, 1938 at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum, Green Bay. He preceded her in death June 16, 2003 after 65 years of marriage. Together they farmed for over 35 years in Glenmore, DePere and Hofa Park areas; retiring in 1986. They then moved to Seymour and have lived in town for 22 years. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour. Louisa enjoyed card parties, visiting friends at the Senior Center, playing board games, her flower and vegetable garden and was also an excellent quilter, knitter and crafter. She always enjoyed company and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Louisa is survived by 4 sons: Norbert (Sandra), Hofa Park; Lawrence, DePere; Richard, Green Bay; Michael (Karen), DePere; eight daughters, Mary (Gerald) Letter, Michigan; Florence (Robert) Bartman, New Holstein; Margaret (Richard) Forsythe, DePere; Agnes (Gary) Schussman, DePere; Suzanne (Frank) Walenta, Sheboygan; Loretta (Paul) Paiser, Green Bay; Eleanor (Michael) Lucas, Suamico; and Rosemary (Richard) Brunner, Green Bay; 36 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Florence DeGroot, Seymour; brother-in-law, Robert DeGroot, DePere.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; two sons: Martin and James; one brother and sister-in-law, Elmer (Edna) Demuth; daughter-in-law, Joan DeGroot; brothers-in-law, Herman Urbanc; Joseph LeMere; sister-in-law, Dorothy LeMere.

Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Thursday, April 24, 2008, 4 PM until 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father Robert Kabat officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, DePere. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com .
