Louie lived in many places throughout Wisconsin and held a variety of jobs during his life. Later in his life, during one of those jobs he met his longtime companion Mary Resop, whom he spent "the best 20 years of his life with" enjoying camping, traveling and sharing hopes and dreams together. He remained her best friend and devoted partner up to her death in 2017.
Louie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek having served as a Eucharist minister for a number of years. He held strong to his Catholic faith and attended mass nearly every day. Louie also volunteered at the food pantry in Seymour.

He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bruette and Gloria Bruette, along with nieces and nephews.
