Lester Luther

Lester A. Luther, age 73, of Navarino passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Shawano Health Services in Shawano. He was born on August 10, 1950 to the late Alfred and Elsie (Schwartz) Luther.

Lester was drafted during the Vietnam War and served for two years in the US Army. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7784 and also a member of the Bonduel American Legion Post 217.

Lester was united in marriage to Ann Dachelet on April 29, 1977 having celebrated nearly 47 years of marriage.

Lester worked on the railroad for Soo-Line and Canadian National railroads for his entire career until his retirement.

He was a collector of many things. In his younger years he was a stock car racer and was always number 24. Doing various backhoe and dump truck jobs was also on his list of things he enjoyed doing. Lester also enjoyed his time outdoors, especially his time hunting. Normally he could be found out in his shop, tinkering with a tractor or tool of some sort.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Luther; his children: Carla (Kevin) Frank, Carrie (Todd) Rasmussen, and Curt (Lori) Zwiers; grandchildren: Jessica Korzeniewski, Breanna Rasmussen, Todd Rassmussen Jr., Saraya, Brandon, and Summer Zwiers; great-grandchildren: Payton, Camden, Blayne, Trenton, and Emma; brother, Glen (Sandy) Luther; niece, Jenna; and nephew, Nick. Lester is further survived by Ann's family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Luther.

Visitation will take place at Ascension Lutheran Church, W6106 Navarino Road in Navarino on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 12 noon with Pastor Marcia Sabin officiating. Military honors will follow the service.
