Lavahn Barclay

LaVahn "Vonnie" Barclay, age 75, of Seymour passed away suddenly on Monday, March 7, 2022 at home. She was born on May 20, 1946, daughter of the late Lloyd and Verla (Schultz) Hegner.

Vonnie was united in marriage to Donald Barclay on July 11, 1964 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. She was a devoted wife and provided unconditional love and support. She stood by Donald's side throughout the many years of his pony pulling competitions. The couple had three children and celebrated nearly 58 years of marriage together.

Vonnie worked at Wally's Seymour Bowl for over 30 years, and provided cleaning services. She loved to bowl and made numerous friends from her bowling leagues. An avid bowler, she would have participated in the Women's State Bowling Tournament for 30 years this year.

Vonnie was a true Elvis fan girl and loved Tweety Bird. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and tending to her flowers and gardens. She also loved watching Brewers, Packers, and UWGB Phoenix Women's basketball games. Vonnie loved her grandchildren deeply. She attended all of their concerts, sporting events, and school functions. Vonnie was a loyal friend, always willing to lend out a helping hand. She took pride in taking care of others and did so many little things that made a significant impact to those she cared for. Her family was extremely important to her, and each of us will miss her dearly.

Vonnie is survived by husband, Donald Barclay; her children: Tracie (Scott) Hansen, Glen (Lori Wojtowicz) Barclay, and Terri (Steve) Garsow; grandchildren: Kassie (Zach), Kendra (CJ), Eric, Justin (Tracy), Melissa, and Collin. She is further survived by two sisters: Elaine (Larry) Geniesse and Mary Ann (Hezzie Leffel) Krueger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jean Albert, Melvin (Barb) Barclay, Gail Barclay, Michael (Linda) Barclay, Ann (Karl) Kuehl; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Verla (Schultz) Hegner; sister, Rosalie Fredrickson; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Margaret and Maurice Barclay; brothers-in-law: Don Fredrickson, Maurice (Janet) Barclay Jr., Terry Barclay, and Harvey Albert, Jr.

Visitation will take place at NEW Life Methodist Church, Seymour, on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 3:00 pm until the funeral service at 6:00 pm with Pastor Ho Lee officiating. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
