John Henry Sand

John Henry Sand died at age 88 on April 10, 2026, at Brewster Village in Appleton, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family. He was born in St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL to parents Henry and Genevieve (Banck) Sand on October 17, 1937. He attended high school at New Trier High School in Wilmette, IL and college at Monmouth College and Northwestern University, where he played football.

He and Dorothy Schlimm were married on December 29, 1984, at the Catholic chapel on the University of Wisconsin Madison campus. Initially he was a teacher and a coach, then transitioned to sales for the remainder of his career. A dog lover, he and Dorothy have had several collies over the years, including their current dog, Sylvie. He was also an avid fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schlimm-Sand.

John will be buried in a private service at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Freedom, Wisconsin.
