Joan L. Peters, 82, of Black Creek passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. She was born on April 22, 1944, daughter of the late Ervin and Mildred (Buss) Arnold.
On May 4, 1963, Joan was united in marriage to Larry Peters at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Freedom. Following marriage, she and Larry farmed in the town of Black Creek, where they raised their family.
Over the years, Joanie and Larry enjoyed bowling (40 years with the same couple), going on many trips over the years, and playing cards with friends and family. She also enjoyed her soap operas and other special TV shows that she and Larry liked watching together. Joanie took pleasure in the flowers she planted every year, especially her zinnias, loved decorating for the seasons and holidays, and going to all of her grandchildren's events. Joan also had a soft spot for her barn kitties, often spoiling them more than her own children!
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry; children: Debra (Todd) Schnasse, Randy (Jackie) Peters, and Dawn (Billy) Baumgart; grandchildren: Brooke (Chris) Franco, Holly (Allan) Jabas, Nathan (Kelseah) Peters, Lauren (fiance, Nate Janssen) Peters, Meghan (special friend, Alessandro de Rosa) Peters, Julie (Ryan) Schmidt and James Baumgart; great-grandchildren: Carson and Baylyn Franco; Nolan, Miles and Leah Jabas; Ellie and Maisie Peters; and Riley, Raelynn and Weston Schmidt. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law and one nephew: Lyonel (Monica) Arnold and their son Jerry, and Stewart (Pat) Arnold; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Sylvia Peters; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marie (Jim) Steward and Carol (Bill) Deltgen.
Visitation for Joan will take place on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Black Creek from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Gartner and Pastor Matthew Schoell officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
The family would like to thank the hospice nurses from ThedaCare at Home for their care and compassion.
