Gerald “Jerry” L. Diemel,77, of Navarino passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born on March 29th, to Lyle “Pappy” and Ida (Kable) Diemel. On July 3, 1965 he married Beverly Zuleger.
Jerry was a long-time resident of Navarino and could many times be seen cutting his grass or removing snow at his home on the corner. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his “goofy” sense of humor and how he would call things or people by anything but their proper name. He had a nickname for everyone he knew.
Jerry was a caregiver for his wife Beverly and spent long hours with her at the nursing home and taking “Grammie” for a ride to see the ducks, geese, or Shawano Lake. You might also see him at the local gas station grabbing a “sodie pop”.
He enjoyed watching the Brewers, “Bucky Badger”, NASCAR races, and Barrett Jackson auction shows, and most of all his grandchildren’s sporting events as often as he could.
Jerry worked construction his whole life and was a member of the laborers local #330 for 51 years with the majority of that time with CR Meyer.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 217 and the 82nd Airborne Association. He took great pride in serving his country in the 82nd airborne division of the US Army, Fort Bragg North Carolina.
He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly; four children: Susan Johnkins, Bill (Stacy) Diemel, Sarah (Dennis) Bohm, and Brian (Stacy); eight grandchildren who he was very proud of: Sabrina, Jaden, Parker, Trevor, Elliott, Garrett, Connor, and Carson. Further survived by his siblings: Donnie (Karen) Diemel, Jim (Carol) Diemel, Danny (Helen) Diemel, Patsy (Bruce) Nitzske, John Diemel, Dennis (Jean “George”) Diemel, Judy (Tom) Krull, and Buck (Judy) Diemel; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and the Zuleger family.
