Fred Haase

January 15, 1936 — December 3, 2023

Fred "Fritz" Haase Jr. went to the big campground with a fishing hole in the sky on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was born on January 15, 1936, to the late Fred Haase Sr. and Mayme (VanGroll) Haase. He was the youngest of nine children. He liked to say that they "walked uphill in the snow to and from school every winter"!

On April 18, 1964, he married Nancy (Rohm) Haase. Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage and had five children.

He served in the US Air Force from January 4, 1956, to December 10, 1959 where he studied electronics. In his younger years he watched his dad make cheese and after serving in the Air Force he joined his brothers Ted and Don at the North Osborn Cheese Factory making cheese. He then worked at Advance Industries for many years. When Advance moved out of state he started working at Black Creek Schools as a custodian.

Fritz loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping where he would spend hours talking with (or listening to) whatever forest ranger stopped by. He enjoyed watching Packers, Brewers, and Wisconsin Badger games, playing sheepshead and cribbage. He spent many mornings at McDonald's with his friends discussing what was happening in Seymour. He could also tell you how many snowfalls we would receive in a year, never being very far off. He made "Fred's Famous Fudge" for every party he attended. If he could get away with it, he would eat dessert first!! He didn't want to be too full for his sweets! He was looking forward to having a whole batch of Pfeffernusse cookies made just for him to enjoy.

Attending his grandchildren's high school sporting events and high school activities were always the highlight of his day. He and Nancy were recognized as Wrestling Club backer and "S" Club backer of the year. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought a smile to his face and a twinkle to his eyes.

Fritz is survived by his children: Dawn (Bill) Leisgang, Debbie Haase, Deanne Haase (special friend Patrick Schomaker), and Dean Haase; grandchildren: Nici (Jeremy) Luchterhand, Sam (Angela) Leisgang, David Leisgang and Jacob Gerondale; great-grandchildren: Braxton, Jade and Mason Luchterhand and Lacey Leisgang, and a baby boy Leisgang due in March; sister-in-law, Fran Haase; special former sister-in-law, Donna Haase; brother-in-law, Jerry (Carolyn) Rohm many nieces and nephews; and his constant companion and friend, Nancy Anderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; infant son, David; siblings: Joseph (Jane), Howard (Velma), Clarence (Rita), Francis, Marie, Ted (Arvilla), Don "Pete" and Rosemary Frost.

He was described as a quiet man, a man of few words, and a very watchful man over the people around him. Not a man that stood out in a crowd or looked for attention, but if you took the time to get to know him... he was funny, kind, smart and loved a good laugh!

Please don't come dressed up, that was not dad. Wear your best plaid or flannel shirt in honor of him.
