Ervin Huettl

May 15, 1919 — October 26, 2008

Ervin R. 'Jackie' Huettl, 89, loving husband, father, brother and papa passed away early Sunday morning at home. His family and friends find consolation in his lifelong commitment to Jesus Christ and life of service to his fellow man. He was born to the (late) Joseph and Agnes (Leininger) on May 15, 1919.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 65 years, Dorothy 'Cookie'. He has been a life-long resident of Seymour, member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the business community. He attended Ripon College and was a graduate of Green Bay Business College. Ervin and his 5 brothers owned and operated Seymour Transfer Line and Huettl Tours/Huettl Bus, Inc. In earlier years he was also a substitute rural mailman and volunteer fireman.

Ervin's love for sports included playing basketball, football and baseball and refereeing basketball. Starting golf at a later age was a time that he enjoyed with family, nephews, and friends. His fondest memories included being part of the first Seymour High School basketball team to play at the State tournament; attending Packers games and practices from the bleachers of old City Stadium with his dad, to Lambeau Field and the Frozen Tundra with his family and friends. Simple joys included time spent at the cottage with family, boating, swimming and just appreciating life around him. Ice cream and popcorn ran a close second.

Ervin is survived by his children: Peter (Joyce), Madison; Rosemary (Kevin) Clarke, Brillion; Mike, Seymour; Katie (Kevin) DuChateau, Green Bay; Ann, Seymour; John, Seymour. Grandchildren: Nick (Alecia), Paul, and Phil Huettl, Joey and Tom Clarke, Katy(Brent) Zerkel, Ross and Stu Huettl, Tyler DuChateau, Richie (Val), Jeremy, Courtney, Ashley, and Matt Samson, Ryan and Alex Huettl, two great-grandchildren: Cole and Isaac Samson; sister, Sylvia VandeCorput; sister-in-law, Ginny Huettl; goddaughters, Cathy Krull, Seymour, and Roberta Sager, Shawano.

Ervin is preceded in death by infant daughter, Mary; brothers: Gerry, Ivo, Francis, Joe, and Bernie; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a goddaughter, Karla DeGroot.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 4:00-7:00pm and the Rosary will follow.
