Emil L. Grassel, age 73, passed away Sunday, October 28 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born December 10, 1933 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, the son of the late Emil and Sedona (Nienas) Grassel. On August 3, 1968 he was united in marriage to Leah LaFave in Michigan. Emil graduated from Southern Door High School, received his Bachelor Degree from LaCrosse in Education and his Masters from Winona State University. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a Korean Conflict Army Veteran. Emil was a physical education teacher at Cambria and taught at Rockledge Elementary School in Seymour for 27 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and a member of Crystal Springs Golf Course for many years, former softball, basketball and football coach and enjoyed his many trips to the casino.

Survivors include: his wife Leah, Seymour; 2 children, Chris (Katie) Grassel and Michelle Grassel all from Seymour, 1 grandchild, Gordon Grassel.

Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home on Thursday, November 1, 2007 from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. with funeral Services at 6 P.M. with Father Bob Kabat officiating. Entombment will be at Gardens of Rest Mausoleum in Escanaba. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.boettcherfuneralhomes.com .

A reception will continue in Emil's memory at Crystal Springs Golf Coursein Seymour, Wisconsin following his services.

In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to Rock Ledge Elementary School.
