Elton Check

Elton Leo Check passed on to be with his Savior on July 8, 2023 at his home in Black Creek, WI. He was born in Rosholt, WI on September 26, 1932.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Martha Check; also by two brothers: Leonard and Clarence; four sisters: Loretta, Hennrietta, Lucille, and Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; nieces and nephews in Stevens Point, WI, Florida, Minnesota, Maryland, and Oklahoma.

Elton attended PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point, WI. After graduation he joined the Army in 1953 and achieved the rank of corporal.

Most of his adult life was spent as a professional driver having been employed by Greyhound Lines, Consolidated Freightways, Kurz and Root Co., and CW Transport. While employed by these companies Elton drove in excess of three and a half million miles.

After his life on the road he was employed by Schneider Transport in Green Bay, WI and Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI as a Semi Driver instructor and CDL examiner.

Elton was also very active in his hobbies and interests. He was an excellent woodworker. He also loved flying as a private pilot and fishing for the big ones. Elton loved to dance to polka music and played the concertina. Of course when the summer would come he would be ready to attend dirt track racing and camping in Shawano, WI. Later in life he missed all of his departed animal friends including Fred his cat of 17 years.

He is a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, WI.

Visitation will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 11:00 am until the memorial service at 1:00 pm with Rev. Connie Check officiating.
