Elmer G. Munger, age 88, passed away June 26, 2008 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in New London after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born January 3, 1920 on the family farm near Seymour to the late Elmer and Doris (Droeger) Munger.

Elmer grew up in the Seymour area. His great grandparents were among the first settlers in Seymour. He entered the service in 1944 & was stationed in England with the 17th Airborne Division (a Glider Company), 101st Division, and later the 82nd Airborne Division. In January 1945 he was injured in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, for which he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Elmer was a carpenter. He was a long-time Carpenter's Union member. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors and especially liked buying, selling, and working with guns and loading his own shells. He enjoyed gardening and doing a little farming. Elmer always enjoyed good eating, was a good cook, and made great pies.

Survivors include his children: Dianna (David) Pryse, Pardeeville, WI; Bradley (Kay) Munger, Shiocton, WI; Bruce (Robin) Munger, Menasha, WI; Bill (Jacque) Munger, Appleton, WI; Tammy (Dennis) Grenier, Granger, IN. 9 grandchildren: Gregory Pryse, Pardeeville; Christina (Michael) Pryse-Mewhorter, Apple Valley, MN; Karri (Josh Short) Pryse, Pardeeville; Heath (Tonia) Munger, Neenah; Andy Munger & Jordan Munger, Menasha; Zackary Munger, Appleton; Jonathan Grenier, Granger, IN; Brooke Grenier, Ft. Wayne, IN. 4 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Hanna, Weston Munger and Nathan Mewhorter. Brother: Karl (Ione) Munger, Shiocton, WI; sister-in-law Theresa Munger, Pulaski, WI; sister-in-law Rose Ganzel, Appleton, WI; brothers-in-law Roy (Audrey) Ganzel, Shawano, WI & Terry (Joan) Ganzel, Zephyrhills, FL. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Morton Munger; brother-in-law, Lawrence Ganzel.

Elmer loved his family and was a gentle, caring man with a good sense of humor. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 11 AM until funeral services at 1 PM. Burial in the Seymour City Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com .
