Edith J. Nagel, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at Renaissance Assisted Living in De Pere, Wisconsin. She was married for 54 years to her beloved husband Darvin, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Edith graduated from West High in Green Bay in 1955 and attended Northwestern Nursing College in Chicago until married on January 4, 1958. They grew Darvin's family farm in Oneida into thriving business for over 30 years. Edith was a very involved farm wife and managed the animal husbandry, financials and farm expansion.
Edith had many hobbies and passions throughout her life. She enjoyed her beautiful apple orchard, bowling, fishing, painting and her beloved Brewers, where she seldom missed watching a game. A talented musician, music was her lifelong passion. She played many instruments, and in particular was an excellent pianist and organist from a young age. In high school she accompanied at the Meyer Theatre for radio shows. Throughout her life, she would play for many schools and 4-H programs, multiple churches and organizations. In addition, Edith shared her gifts through piano lessons to many over the years. During the last year, she enjoyed playing for the choir and church services at Rennes.
She is survived by her children: Mary Ellen (Eric) Hansen, Nancy Nagel, John (Gwen) Nagel, Margaret (Mark) Waage, and David (Kristen) Nagel, grandchildren: Nick, Sarah, Luke, Sasha, Marinna, Hannah, Nicole, Shailee, and Tyler, and great grandchildren: Quinn, Zoe, Hugh, and Anya. Edith is also survived by a sister, Janet Francies ans sister-in-law Marlene Nagel.
Edith is preceded in death by her infant daughter Gloria, in-laws Ray Francies, Bobbi Nagel, and Gerald (the late Lois) Nagel.
Funeral services for Edith will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, on Friday January 9th, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Private interment at the parish cemetery.
Edith's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Rennes and Unity Hospice for their wonderful care of mom. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Crossways Youth Camp in Edith's name are appreciated.
