Earl Marcks

July 7, 1939 — November 17, 2025

Earl Marcks, age 86, of Seymour, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1939, in Seymour, the son of Melvin and Harriet (Tubbs) Marcks.

Earl graduated from Seymour High School in 1957, proudly claiming he used only one pencil throughout his school years. While driving his school bus route, he met Sharon Treml, who became the love of his life. They married on June 22, 1963, and shared more than 61 years of devotion until Sharon's passing on November 16, 2024.

A lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Seymour community, Earl gave generously of his time. He was active in the Dairyland Snowmobile Club, grooming trails and teaching safety classes to young riders. As a Wild Grove 4-H project leader, he delighted in volunteering at the Outagamie County 4-H Dairy Bar-whether scooping ice cream for malts or cracking eggs for breakfast. He especially enjoyed attending county fairs and the Wisconsin State Fair, where he never missed a horse pull contest or a cream puff.

Earl was a passionate sports fan, with a special love for baseball. He once dressed as Sammy Sosa for Halloween and was known for his playful banter with coaches, referees, and umpires, always calling everyone "bud." A Green Bay Packers season ticket holder since 1963, he also cheered faithfully for the Brewers, Cubs, and Badgers. Earl and Sharon were honored with the Seymour High School Booster Backer Award for their lifelong support of local athletics, and Earl proudly served as Booster Club President when Seymour Football won the State Championship. Though he hadn't played sports in high school, he later discovered golf, joining a men's league and enjoying weekly rounds with friends-never keeping score, but always savoring the camaraderie. Above all, he was his children's and grandchildren's biggest fan in the stands.

Earl served his country in the Army Reserves and worked at Badger Northland for 35 years, building farm machinery. He later drove a fuel tanker for Coonen's Gas Station.

He is survived by his children: Terry Marcks, Gary (Kerry) Marcks, Tammy (Dale) Van De Loo, and Amy (Brent) Koebe; grandchildren: Stacy Marcks, Carsten (Grace) Van De Loo, Kaiser (Irayma, special friend) Van De Loo, Kylie Van De Loo, Jamie (Holly) Koebe, and Owen (Mackenzie, special friend) Koebe. Earl is further survived by siblings Donald Marcks, Charles Marcks, Nancy Holz, Darlene (Bob) Butters, Delores (Jim) Buckholz, and Marge (Denny) Brinkman; Sharon's family, including Pat (Dean) Ullmer, Eilene Mullen, and Bonnie (Ray) Leisgang; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dale Marcks and James (Jan and Bette) Marcks; sister Joyce (Jim) Thiel; sisters-in-law Beverly Marcks and Elsie Marcks; and in-laws Gertrude and Ebben Mullen and Joe (Vivian) Treml.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Dr. Schinschke for their compassionate care. Earl was proud to be a multiple-gallon blood donor, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Red Cross.

Earl cherished polka and country music, especially the songs of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and the Red Raven Polka. His family knows he would smile at any tune played in his honor as he joins his heavenly home.

In celebration of Earl's lifelong love of sports, funeral guests are invited to dress casually and wear their favorite team apparel.
