Doris Minlschmidt, age 85 passed away Saturday morning, February 7, 2009 in Appleton. She was born August 31, 1923 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late August and Ethel Walter.

Doris was a graduate of Oshkosh High School. She was employed at the Wisconsin Axle during WWII and then at the Wisconsin State Hospital, Oshkosh. On August 30, 1947 she married LeRoy Minlschmidt at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Her husband made a career of the military and she traveled with him while serving in Germany, Alaska, Japan and Okinawa and then Minnesota. Doris worked for the 3M Company St. Paul, Minnesota where her husband was employed after his retirement from the military in 1964. While in Minnesota, Doris was an active member of her church, taught Sunday School and was also an active member of the VFW Auxiliary. In 1979 her husband retired from the 3M Company and for a few years they traveled together in their RV through-out the United States, Canada and Mexico. Together they spent winters in the south and summers at Shawano Lake for fifteen years until moving to Appleton where they lived in a senior retirement home.

She is survived by her husband LeRoy, Appleton; her children: Gary (Ruth) Minlschmidt, St. Michael, MN; Eric Minlschmidt and family, Tehachapi, CA; Wendy (Michael) Minlschmidt Majeski, St. Paul MN; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws: Ruby Minlschmidt, Black Creek; Phyllis Walter and Jeanne Walter, Oshkosh.

She was preceded in death by her father, August her mother Ethel, four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from 4PM until funeral services at 7 PM with Pastor Don Bauman officiating. Burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, St. Paul, MN. Online condolences may be express at www.muehlboettcher.com .
