Dolores Demerath

February 1, 1930 — October 6, 2023

With saddened hearts, our mother, Dolores Ann (Schulze) Demerath, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. Dolores was born on February 1, 1930 to Leonard H. Schulze and Amelia (Sell) Schulze in Appleton, WI.

She graduated from Appleton West High School and enjoyed working in a local physician's office. On August 27, 1949, Dolores married Michael J. Demerath at St. Therese Church in Appleton. They resided most of their married life in Seymour, WI.

As a young girl she loved to fish with her father and uncle and continued to enjoy that past time while camping with her own family; along with being the head cook. Dolores was a caregiver all of her life. When she was young, she helped her parents take care of her brother, Robert, who was born with a disability. At the age of 17, she helped to take care of her father when he was dying with cancer. Throughout her busy life raising seven children, she still found time to help her widowed mother. Dolores was a devoted daughter.

Dolores was a talented seamstress making the majority of her childrens' clothes and a wonderful baker of delicious pies and desserts. When her youngest child went off to kindergarten, Dolores went to work as a cook at Seymour Elementary School for the next 15 years. Once both Dolores and Mike retired they started traveling throughout the United States with their Airstream, visiting with relatives, sitting around the camp fire reading a book, or visiting with her family.

She is survived by her children: Alan, Stephen (Joan), Mark (Deb), Russ, (Deb), Peter (Penny), Bruce (Margaret), and Rachel (Bruce) Gunderson; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Further survived by a brother, Donald (Pat) Schulze and sister-in-law, Judy Schulze.

Preceded in death by her husband, and brothers: Robert and Jim Schulze.

Following Dolores's wishes, private family services will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour City Cemetery.
