Dewayne Osterling

July 31, 1948 — April 22, 2021

DeWayne "Dewey" Gary Osterling, 72, Black Creek, passed away at Brewster Village on Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was born on July 31, 1948, to John and Carol (Nollenberg) Osterling. DeWayne was a 1966 graduate of Hortonville High School. He was united in marriage to Patsy "Pat" Salm on April 11, 1967, and the couple had one daughter.

Dewey worked as a roofer for 35 years at Borsche Roofing Professional, Inc., and had served as foreman for 25 years until his retirement in 2010. He also was a mechanic, and enjoyed working on his cars, trucks, and lawnmowers, as well as friends' and family member's vehicles. Dewey also was talented with auto body work. He was a man of few words who always held a smirk, chuckle, or contagious smile.

Dewey loved driving his Harley, Wizards and hot rods. He was an avid fisherman and most often muskies, which he referred to as "the fish of every 10,000 casts," and he claims to have made over a billion casts. Dewey also fished for trout and steelhead, and his filet work was always perfect. He also had a passion for hunting pheasants, whitetails, Russian boar, and elk (the "elusive ghost of the woods"). Dewey was a member of the National Rifle Association and Outagamie County Conservation Club. He found his peace at his land in Caroline by the river as well as Big Falls, or playing cards and dice with his family.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Pat Osterling, Black Creek; one daughter, Annette "Nettie" (Wayne) Allen, Pulaski; two grandchildren: Tyler Allen, Pulaski, and Chelsea (special friend, Landon) Allen, De Pere; one great-granddaughter, Leighanna Myers; his mother, Carol Osterling, Clermont, FL; siblings: Kirk (Patti) Osterling, Land O' Lakes, MI, Dennis Osterling, Waupaca, and Johnny Osterling, Woodruff; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Osterling; and a nephew who was just like a son, Sonny Stueber.

Per Dewey's wishes, no funeral services will take place. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with their arrangements.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Brewster Village, especially Stephanie, for their compassionate care.
