Debra Ann Vander Zanden (Carmody), age 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 15, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Debra was born on August 17, 1957, in Algoma, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert Carmody and Shirley Eckardt. She graduated from Seymour High school in 1975. Following high school, Debra began working at Treml’s grocery store in Seymour. She later pursued a career in real estate and then ventured to the hospitality industry.
Debra retired in 2014 and moved to sunny Florida, where she enjoyed her retirement. She was an avid reader who loved to travel, and cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Debra is survived by her husband, John Meyer; her three children, Renee Page (Peter), Matthew Vander Zanden, and Katye Holz (Brian); and her six grandchildren Leah, Weston, Emma, Colton, Briella and Jack. She is also survived by her former husband and father to her three children, David Vander Zanden; mother, Shirley Eckardt; brother, Daniel Carmody; sister, Shawnlee Heisler; nephew, Nathan Carmody; Uncle, Robert and Aunt, Delores Nelson; as well as many cousins, extended family members, Florida and Wisconsin friends. The Marnocha family held a dear place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Carmody; sister-in-law, Sharon Carmody; and grandmother, Ida Liesko.
She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
A celebration of life will be held in Seymour, Wisconsin at a later date.
