It is with great sadness we announce the passing of David J. Katch, 77, known to many as "Ira", "Gramps", or maybe even "Kiddo". In the end he just had so many different health issues and it was time for his heart to rest on July 11, 2024.
He was born September 20, 1946 a son of the late Robert and Marion (Bunkelman) Katch. He was raised on a family farm in Pulaski and later served in the Army. Ira worked for many years at Miller Electric until his retirement and was also a bartender for years at Hotel Seymour and in later years at Krabbe's.
He was married to Suzanne "Sue" Spaude having spent many years together and raised one daughter. What can we say about Ira that many of you don't already know? He made so many friends over the years and touched so many lives. Always willing to lend a helping hand, and always looking for a good time. He truly was a good friend, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa who loved all of his family and friends.
Golfing, fishing, bowling, playing cards, and pontooning were some of his favorite things to do. He had many great times on the pontoon with Fred and Nancy as well as many great stories to go along with those times. We wish you could have got out on the pontoon just one more time! Oh, and we surely can't forget all of his rides, fishing trips, and bumming with his buddy, Butch. Thanks so much for keeping a close eye on my dad. I'm not sure if you helped my dad get into trouble or stay out of trouble, but many thanks Uncle Bob.
He is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Jeff) Olson; grandchildren: Dalton (Carly), Owen, and Anna (Joe); great-grandson, Cashton; siblings: Darlene Egnarski, Dianne (Ray) Gronski, Bob Katch Jr, Mary Strehlow, Debbie (Steve) Buschel, Dan (Renee) Katch, Sandy Hendzel, Nancy (Fred) Leisgang; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jean Katch, Kathy Katch, Julie Spaude, Tom (Michelle) Spaude, Shelby Felton, Bonnie (Byron) Wendt, and Janet Spaude.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Katch; sister, Beverly Katch; brothers: Steven Katch, Dale Katch, and Jerry Katch; brothers-in-law: Mike Spaude, Steve (Jan) Spaude, Don Egnarski, Jerry Strehlow, Jim Felton, and Donnie Spaude.
Visitation will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 3:00 pm until the funeral service at 6:00 pm with Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating with military honors to follow. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery, Seymour.
