Darlene Butters, age 80, of Seymour, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 28, 2026, after a 20 year struggle with Parkinson. Born on January 21, 1946, in Black Creek, she was the daughter of Melvin and Harriet (Tubbs) Marcks. She grew up on a farm near Black Creek with family of 9 brothers and sisters.

Darlene married Robert Butters on May 13, 1965, and together they shared more than 60 happy years. She was a very much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was an active member of Cicero/ Seymour Methodist Church all her life.

Darlene graduated from Seymour High School in 1964, where she was involved in many school, activities including being a Cheer Leader, was on the Student Council and attended Badger Girls State. She was employed as a Dental Assistant in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a Bank Teller at 1stNational Bank of Seymour, and worked in the Bakery at Don's Market for 21 years, where she enjoyed serving and meeting people. She was known by many young children over the years as the Cookie Lady.

Over the years, Darlene enjoyed many trips in the USA, the County and State Fairs, Horse Shows, enjoyed music shows with several trips to Branson, MO., and 50 years of family camping at Pine Lake Wildwood campground near Westfield, WI. She very much enjoyed family gatherings with her children and grandchildren and many other family members.

Darlene is survived by her husband Bob; children; Shaun (Nana) Butters, Eric (Larisa) Butters and Tonya (Lee) Rettmann; grandchildren: Lewis Butters, Veda Butters, Malachi Rettmann, Micah Rettmann, Julian Rettmann, William Butters, Sophia Butters. She is further survived by her brothers: Donald Marcks and Charles Marcks; her sisters: Nancy Holz, Dee (Jim) Buchholz and Margie (Dennis) Brinkman and Bob's family, including Terry (June) Butters and Randy (Teresa) Butters; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers; James, Dale and Earl, her sister; Joyce (Jim) Thiel; and her in-laws: Stanley and Virginia Butters, Jan and Bette (James) Marcks, Jim (Joyce) Thiel, Beverly (Don) Marcks, Elsie (Charles) Marcks, Sharon (Earl) Marcks, Marilyn (Terry) Butters and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

A special heartfelt thanks to Unity Hospice, Cathy Lytie, Charles and Julie Marcks, Bill Thiel, Sharon Blohm and others nieces for their compassion and help.

Funeral services for Darlene will be held Wednesday September 2, 2026 at NEW Life Methodist Church, 721 Pleasant Way, Seymour at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ruwej Somp officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Private interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established for various charities.
