Bette Mae (Boye) Ibe
May 24, 1930 - September 4, 2022

Seems as though I've passed away even though it pains me to admit it. It's true that "The Good Die Young". Remember that I was 92 years of age! I passed while swimming the English Channel (in my dreams).
What a great life, I was born Bette Mae Boye to wonderful parents, Frederick and Martha (Roepke) Boye. I had a marvelous older sister, Shirley, who always looked out for me and was a great role model. Dickie was my wonderful younger brother who passed at 18 years of age.
Growing up during the depression was not easy for my parents. However, my siblings and I believed that we had everything: a nice home, food on the table, and loving parents.
Our family farm was in Adell, WI and I attended Plymouth High School. After attending college, I met and married the man of my dreams, Carl Ibe. My husband kept all his promises except leaving for eternal life before me. He better have a huge bouquet of flowers to greet me! Carl was an amazing gardener so he'll have it ready!
With this amazing man, my biggest accomplishments are our extraordinary three girls (Remember that my girls are writing this so please take this with a grain of salt!): Karla (Dave) Downey, Kristi (Tim) Zoern, and Kay (Dan) Hinton. Also, I am very proud of my grandchildren: Emily (Carter) Bosch, Elizabeth Downey (Nathanael Secor), and Sam Downey; Tanner (Lexi) Davis; and Andrew and Matthew Hetzel. All of their good characteristics come directly from me! (Just kidding, Carl!) I have also been blessed with great grandchildren: Lainie Hetzel, Gareth Downey, and Baby Girl Bosch (on the way!)
I leave a number of wonderful friends who have blessed me greatly in life. You know who you are! Playing Bridge was a favorite pastime of mine and I also enjoyed a good game of Wheel of Fortune.
In vain, I am trying to find the perfect parting words. These words were on other's tombstones-I could borrow them but that would be plagiarism! Heck, what can they do-sue me? How about "You're blocking my view!" or "I told you that I was sick!"?
I'll leave you with this...please don't cry because I'm gone; instead be happy that I was here. Or maybe you can cry a little bit. After all, I have passed away.

My family would like to add something nice about me. I guess that that's customary in this situation (although I have never seen an etiquette book on this subject!)

From Karla, Kristi, and Kay:
To Our Beloved Mother: You were a caring, selfless, gracious, supportive, nurturing, and classy woman who possessed a quick wit. You always had a ready smile and warm greeting for everyone that you met.

A blessing to all who knew you, you (and Dad) provided us with a storybook childhood. You were our champion, nurturer, confidant, and friend. You didn't sweat the small stuff and always had your priorities straight - love, family, friends, and kindness. You always lent a listening ear while being nonjudgmental. If more people were like you or even a little bit like you, the world would be a much better place. Mothers just don't come greater than you.
Love You So Much

Thank you to the very wonderful staff at Good Shepherd Home and Meadow Wood Assisted Living for great care and compassion.

Bette volunteered at local charities for many years. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution fund has been established in her name at Community 2000, 1002 S. Main St. Seymour 54165, to help those with disadvantages or disabilities. You are welcome to express condolences at www.muehlboettcher.com.

A private service for immediate family will be scheduled in the near future.

In our Mother's honor please spread a little extra kindness today.
