Arlyn "Arly" E. Pues, 88, of Appleton passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Brewster Village in Appleton. He was born on July 27, 1937 son of the late Chester "Pete" and Minnie (Rief) Pues.
He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Appleton. Arly served his country in the US Army where he was a Golden Glove boxer.
He married the love of his life, Nancy Bergsbaken, on September 28, 1963 and spent 53 wonderful years together on the ball diamonds. Nancy preceded him in death on February 3, 2017. Arlyn and Nancy raised their family spending the summers attending baseball and softball games.
Arly had a long career with Boldt Construction. His passion was sports, whether it was playing or umpiring baseball or softball, and bowling. Arlyn played baseball for 32 years and was inducted into the Navarino Rangers Hall of Fame in 2007.
Arly was also a major supporter of his children and grandchildren. He frequently attended their events and loved watching them play sports.
He was an avid Packer fan having been a season ticket holder since 1959 and attended the Ice Bowl, watched the Brewers regularly, and would also watch almost any sport there was.
There was a soft spot in his heart for dogs and he loved the opportunities he had to be with the grand-dogs. Arly was the type of man that enjoyed making others smile and laugh. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Arly is survived by his children: Tammy (Ron Schemmel) Zehren, Bobbi Jo (Craig) Huss, Kelly (Dave Small) Prosser; six grandchildren: Jared (Melanie) Shaw, Morgan (Victor) Markus, Cole Huss, Claire (Trevor Koch) Huss, Riley (Kaleigh Gietman) Prosser, and Rayce (Riley Sarkauskas) Prosser; great-granddaughter, Etta Markus; sister-in-law, Ellen Pues; nieces and nephews, and grand dogs.
In addition to his wife and parents, Arly is preceded in death by his sisters: Edith (Ed) Tremmel, and Edna (Jim) Dingeldein; brothers: Virgil (Beatrice) Pues, Wendell (Rachel) Pues, Harvey (Marge) Pues, and Marvin Pues; in-laws: Jared and Ella Bergsbaken, and brother-in-law, Gale Bergsbaken.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Online condolences may be expressed to Arly's family at www.muehlboettcher.com
