Alice Nackers

January 16, 1934 — July 7, 2022

Alice M. Nackers, age 88, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Seymour. She was born on January 16, 1934, along with her twin sister Lois, to Cornelius and Anna (Conrad) Hietpas. Alice was united in marriage to Leo Nackers on June 9, 1955, in a double wedding ceremony with Lois and Clayton Liebergen.

In 1964, Alice & Leo moved to a dairy farm in Seymour where they lived until retirement. Alice was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Seymour. Besides helping Leo with everything a farmer's wife can do both indoor & outdoor, Alice cared for and raised 10 children. Cooking, baking, canning & gardening filled those years with the growing family. With a love for music, Alice learned to play the organ. With her skill for sewing and crafts, Alice learned to quilt and make rosaries for the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help and the missions. Nearly every member of the extended family had been gifted a homemade (with much love) quilt from Mom/Grandma. As of 2016, she had made over 15,000 handmade rosaries and she prayed multiple rosaries every day as long as she was able. Many people benefited from her prayers and strong Catholic faith.

Alice is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leo Nackers; and their children: Carla (Dave) Hoffman, Terry (Kelly) Nackers, Donna (Neil) Armstrong, Darrell (Becky) Nackers, Brian (Diane) Nackers, Gail (Ken) Demerath, Charlotte Roskom, Ellen (Todd) Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Judy Nackers; son-in-law, Jody Schneider; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren (another expected this summer).

She is further survived by her brother, Merlin (Rose) Hietpas; sister, Sr. Germaine Hietpas; sister-in-law, Irene Hietpas; Leo's sisters: Rose Schmidt and Margaret (Clyde) Romenesko, and numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Nackers; and her daughter, Cynthia Schneider. Also preceding her in death were her parents, brothers: Vernon Hietpas, Paul (Margaret) Hietpas, Roger (Pat) Hietpas, Omar (Shirley) Hietpas, Eugene (Susan) Hietpas, Ken Hietpas; and sisters: Elaine (Pete) VanDera, Irene (Norbert) Roffers, and Lois (Clayton) Liebergen
