Abigail "Abby" Elise Tuma, age 20, met her heavenly Father on Monday, May 15, 2023 after a four year and 4 month battle with brain cancer. She was born on February 21, 2003 to Steven Tuma and Kerri (Riehl) Tuma.
She is survived by her mother, Kerri; sisters, Laken and Maddie; father and step-mother, Steven and Rachel; sisters: Piper and Isla; significant other, Ben Papendorf; grandparents: Harold and Jane Tuma; step-grandparents: Dave and Sherry Walker, Scott and Billie Jo Rice; aunts and uncles: Jodi (Paul) Mathe, Sarah (Salvador Cummings) Riehl, Michael Tuma, Randy Tuma; and Julie (Collin) Docter; cousins: Elizabeth, Emilie, Josh, Salviesha, Ashanti, SJ, Akeelah, Bailey, Peyton, Autumn, Braedon, and Holden
She was preceded in death by her sister, Katelyn Tuma; grandparents, Patricia and Wesley Riehl; cousin, McKenna Tuma.
Abby was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Center. She attended Seymour High School for her freshman year and in 2021 graduated from Shawano High School. Abby went on to attend UW-Lacrosse for Accounting. She loved volleyball, was on several teams including: Shawano and De Pere's club teams, Shawano's High School team where she was the team captain her senior year. Abby also coached 7th and 8th grade volleyball at Seymour. She was awarded the WIAA Spirit of Sport award in 2021 and regional section 4 Spirit of Sport award for her courage and spirit while battling brain cancer.
Abby enjoyed life on the lake, including fishing and catching turtles with her sisters, tubing, wake boarding, kayaking, campfires and hanging out in the sunshine on the dock. She was a crafter, and enjoyed making posters for events, and crocheting. While in treatment she spent her time putting together puzzles and playing cribbage with her Dad. She enjoyed hunting with her family and went on several successful hunts for deer, elk and bear.
She loved life and lived it to the fullest by creating a bucket list. Abby and Ben enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Jamaica, Colorado, and Washington while trying to make her way through all 50 states. She attended many concerts with Ben, trying on wedding dresses, going to Wisconsin Badger Volleyball games, and watching the Bachelor. Her adventures also took her waterskiing, parasailing, and she even flew a plane. She really liked taking "Speedy Sandy" out for a drive to go visit with friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 19th, 2023 at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Gartner and Pastor Matthew Schoell officiating. Abby requested that everyone wear something yellow to her funeral. Memorials in honor of Abby are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
